North Shore “Point Quota” for Alternates
1. Subtract your handicap assigned to you by the host pro from 36 to establish your “point quota”. Example: If your handicap is 12, then your “point quota” would be 24. The higher your handicap, the lower your quota.
2. Points are scored toward your quota by your “gross” score (not net) on each hole as follows: 0 points for double bogey, 1 point for bogey, 2 points for par, 4 points for birdie, 8 points for eagle.
3. Since we are playing gross and no points are awarded for a double bogey and in order to keep the pace of play moving along, you should pick up after you have missed your chance at bogey.
4. On your score card you should record your gross score for each hole along with the number of points you earned toward your quota on each hole.
5. At the end of your round, add up not only your gross score, but the total number of points you earned towards your quota. In the example in #1 above your quota was 24. If you earned 26 points your quota score is “plus” 2. If you earned 22 points your quota score is “minus” 2.
6. The person with the highest number of points over their quota wins. In the example above “plus” 2 is four points better than “minus” 2. If there are no players that obtain their quota, the player closest to their quota is the winner.
7. ALL play will be from the forward tees. If a player chooses to play from the rear tees, he may do so but he plays with his forward tee handicap.
1. The host Governor or his designate is responsible for the Alternates' tournament.
2. Selection of playing groups for the Alternates' tournament should be done in handicap sequence.
3. Entry in the tournament is optional.
4. Entry fee is $5.
5. Each team's Governor or Captain is responsible for collecting the $5 entry fee from each of their alternates that want to participate in the tournament. The entry fee along with a list of their participating players is turned in to the host Governor/designate prior to teeing off (late entries not allowed).
6. After completion of play, the host Governor/designate will review all the alternate's cards to verify and determine the top three Point Quota scores.
7. The host Governor/designate will then disperse the money as follows: 50% first place, 30% second place, 20% third place.
